Rick & Elizabeth Roberts, owners of Roberts & Downey Chapel Equipment are pleased to formally introduce their newest innovation, our Church Truck Surround. From the Spring of 1987 when we first started to hand-craft equipment, we have listened as our customers inform us of their specific needs in chapel furniture products. As our nation's obesity epidemic is growing and our customer's clientele are getting heavier, there needed to be a tasteful way to present the decedent in the funeral home or church for the funeral service. When the family you serve comes into your chapel, we are fully aware of the need for a dignified and tasteful presentation of their loved one. By leaving the heavy call on your church truck, you reduce your exposure to injuries and work comp claims from your employees. Our new Church Truck Surrounds can be made using: Oak, Cherry Walnut or African Ribbon Mahogany. There are 22 stain colors from which to choose for the stain on oak and cherry. Walnut and mahogany are both dark colored woods, which dictate the end result. The surrounds can be made in any of our five designs: Queen Anne (Introduced in 1997), Prairie Craftsman (Introduced in 2002), Provincial (Introduced in 1992), Jamestown Colonial or Classic (Both introduced in 1987). After twenty years we are still listening to our customer's needs for custom, hand-crafted hardwood chapel furniture.

Our newest furniture piece for registration has locked storage with access through the front doors. You can give the key to the family and let them be responsible for the security of the ladies' purses and other personal valuables. You can also store register books, extra pages, service folders, prayer cards, pens and any other items that you might want to have close at hand. The top is 20" deep x 48" long, allowing enough space to register two services at the same time. There are two extra large card pockets, the inside dimensions are 10 1/2" wide x 1 1/2" deep. There are name boards built into the front of each card pocket. The height to the top of the writing surface is 36" and to the top of the card pockets is 41 1/2".

Formal pulpit is a rich and timeless addition to any chapel. This unit comes with a storage shelf, a slanted top for the clergy's papers and a light. 49" tall, 15" deep, 36" wide.

This unit can be used as a multi-purpose piece of furniture.  The left picture below depicts usage as an altar for displaying remains.  There are doors on the back side and an adjustable shelf, this provides you with ample close-by storage for urns, candles, and other items that are necessary for the memorial service.

This attractive piece of furniture combines the base of the RD150 Audio Visual Stand with closed storage for your television or monitor.  The DVD player and electronics can be placed in the bottom unit with an adjustable shelf.  There is a grommit to allow cable connections between the top and bottom compartments.  The top of the unit has pocket doors which close, fully concealing the contents of the top of the cabinet when not in use.

These units sit on top of the mogul base socket prior to installing the plain frosted 3 way mogul base lightbulb.  Colored glass adapters allow the use of a common low cost traditional light bulb rather than a higher cost specialty mortuary bulb. They are available in a variety of colors, to change the costmetic cast of lights.

Often times when customers are purchasing chapel furniture, they are either remodeling or building, at which time there is a need for other furnishings. The Hekman/Woodmark line brings to the project office furnishings (Desks, Credenzas, Book Cases, Conference Tables and Chairs, Etc.) and a full line of goods (Upholstered Furniture, occasional tables, ends tables, coffee tables, etc.). The Howard Miller line includes clocks (Wall , Grandfather and Tabletop) as well as the entire Howard Miller line of funeral and cremation products. The Roberts' feel that this will be beneficial for their customers to be able to combine their furnishing needs with the chapel furniture for a seamless project.
